Before I ventured into the moving industry, I had a rather simplistic view of what it entailed: head to the ABC store, grab some boxes, and call up friends and family to help load up a U-Haul. However, after years in the healthcare field, I felt it was time for a change. So, I took a leap of faith and started as a bookkeeper for a major moving and junk removal company. Little did I know that this decision would transform my life in ways I never imagined.
In less than a year, I went from part-time bookkeeper to General Manager, and through it all, I discovered a passion for the industry that I never knew existed. Much like healthcare, moving is about helping people navigate a significant life challenge. It's about taking them from point A to point B with as little stress as possible, while also providing a solution for unwanted clutter that weighs them down.
It's widely known that moving ranks among the top ten most stressful experiences in a person's life, right alongside marriage, divorce, sickness, and death. Yet, within that stress lies an opportunity—an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. I have always cherished the chance to help those in need, and now, as I look back, I see the parallels between my experiences in healthcare and the moving industry. Each has its flaws, but unlike healthcare, I have the power to effect change alongside a remarkable team of dedicated individuals at Powerhouse Moving Solutions.
